Trip to the Philippines – City pics, Boracay Island

Back from the Philippines and back to reality. Apologies for my absence. I have been trying to recover from the travel and time difference since returning last week. Our time to the Philippines hit every end of the spectrum – from fast-paced, adventurous, metropolitan to leisurely, relaxing, beachy. One thing always consistent? hot weather! Our trip offered many heartwarming family moments, up-close and stark reality of a 3rd world-country and a reconnection to my roots.

On our way back to Cleveland, we had a layover in Tokyo, Japan. Our flight left about an hour or so before the earthquake. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all in Japan.

There is so much to tell about the trip but I’ll let the pictures tell the story. The first 4 pictures were taken while sitting in traffic. Then followed by shots from our stay at Boracay Island. I’ll be sure to post more from our travels to different parts of the P.I.

Sitting in traffic. Peanuts anyone?

How bout some shelves?

This is a picture of a tricycle. This is how most people get around.

This is the back of a jeeppney. Kinda like a cab but shared amongst 10, 12 passengers. When you hop on in the back, you hand your fare to the person next to you and its passed up to the driver.

Boracay...hideous, right?

Looking from the water back to the resort.

Amazing.

Paradise.

Gorgeous.

Hi Dad!

Nice family meal with the largest menus ever

People getting on the banana boat.

Parasailing. Wheeee! Got nauseous but so worth it.

Water was warm, clear and beautiful.

This man is chopping down coconuts. He climbed up the tree with nothing but his two barefeet!

Didn't have a care in the world.
