This week is off to a miserable start. The big things have been moved to Ann Arbor. So long couch, so long bed and very soon, so long Seven Hills. We are in the midst of packing, moving and purging … Continue reading

Return to Sender, please. Hey, send this back! What the…they dont live here!

This made me laugh so I had to share. We sent out Lil C’s birth announcement at the end of May. It’s almost July and we got this in the mail the other day…

Attempt #1 – a polite request to Return to Sender
Attempt #2 – thick, black marker suggests irritation. They are clearly annoyed. Note the 7 arrows around the original message. I think the yellow highlighter was used during the 2nd attempt.
Attempt #3 – The receiver of this letter has resorted to sarcasm and points out the logical conclusion that the intended addresses will not simply appear at the address.

This is the back of the envelope. The people receiving this letter in error could have thrown it away after the 2nd, especially after the 3rd attempt. Perhaps they couldn’t bear to discard the letter with the family sticker featuring the stick figure head of the adorable baby or perhaps they are dog lovers. Either or, I guess there are nice people in New York.

Hot as ping pong balls!

Record breaking temperatures this week! Ugh, so gross to go outside. I went out Saturday night in jeans and they were sticking to my legs. Not a good idea. Thank goodness it cooled off a bit today eh? Lots of good stuff to write about…
Farewell to the Websters
This was a posting long overdue…Our friends, JWebb and Roomy moved to Boulder, Colorado earlier this year. Perhaps I have only just recently accepted the fact that they have moved from the 216 and aren’t coming back, at least not before LeBron comes back to play with the Cavs. 😉 Roomy was my roommate for 2 years in the ‘Hills before I was a Mrs., before there was Campbell and long before the obsession that is Pinterest. Rooms was the best roommate anyone could ask for and we would’ve happily let her stay in our home after the wedding as long as she wanted! But then she may have not met her Mister, JWebb so I guess it all worked out because he’s a really good guy.
So to send her off, a few of us girlies got together for dinner at Paladar over on the east side. I could only stay for a drink because it was the same day as my wedding anniversary and I was scheduled to celebrate 2 years of marriage with Bizzle but I had enough laughs and stories equivalent to 10 drinks in the short time I was there. It was a very bittersweet goodbye for me.

Dear Rooms,
If there was a contest for ‘best roommate EVER’, you would win hands down. Even though its only been a few weeks since you moved to Colorado, we miss you heaps and heaps. Here are my Top 5 Roomy memories:
5) Making you watch Whale Wars
4) Friday happy hours at Chophouse
3) Spending hours together looking online for a puppy, even though we never got one
2) Introducing me to yoga (thank you!!)
1.5) Best 3 team person halloween costume ever!?
1) No judging conversations and good advice
Have fun in non-Cleveland but please make it only temporary and move back to Cleveland ASAP!
Sending daily love from Cleveland,
Eileen

Come on knock on our door…
Rooms move to CO was more tragic than when Suzanne Somers quit Three’s Company. Neither were never the same.

Paladar Review
Paladar (www.paladarlatinkitchen.com) is a Latin American restaurant at Eaton Chagrin. It offers an upscale lunch or dining experience and it’s location is prime time for folks to grab a drink or bite after shopping at stores exclusively at Eaton like Lulu Lemon, Sur la Table, Free People or only 1 of 2 in Cleveland greater area such as Anthropologie and Trader Joe’s. I find it interesting that this is one of 4 Paladar locations  (2 are in Maryland, 1 in Florida). Foodwise, love the chips (not your typical nachos, different but sooo yummy) and guacamole. Definitely get the pork soft tacos but probably want to pass on the fish tacos. Only real complaint is that parking is a nightmare! But that’s because Eaton is always full of people looking for the latest and greatest. 😉
Must Eats
If you’re looking for some good food to try…
– Bacon wrapped dates at Farheinheit
– Mushroonm and goat cheese beignets at Spice (Bizzle’s recommendation)
– Deep fried brussel sprouts at Lolita
and…my newest favoritest dish for the long haul…
Col Buco with slow roasted pork shoulder, tomato and white wine at Chinato – A.MAAAH.ZING.
And the Taste of Tremontis this coming weekend.
Baby news
Welcome to the world Baby Reagan Schumacher! We know Sydney is going to be an awesome big sister!
Thompson Twins
My oldest friend, not by age but longevity, Rach is expecting  by the end of the summer. The Thompsons already have 2 adorable girls and come August, they will be doubling their brood. Can you imagine twinkies? Wow. To celebrate the future Thompson Twins, her family threw a beautiful baby shower for Rach and I got a great baby shower gift idea from, what else, Pinterest! I cannot wait to hold them and since we don’t know if they are boys, girls or 1 of each, I’m going to guess…umm…1 boy and 1 girl.

Arranged diapers and walah, wrap some ribbon around it and walah! it looks like a basinette. Got this baby shower gift idea from pinterest!

Had to do one pink and one boy because it’s going to be a surprise! Any guesses?

The Newsroom
Gotta go take a walk with Baby C so I will be quick. You must watch this show! I get giddy on Sunday’s now because I get my fill of The Newsroom. I think it’s this summer’s Homeland. WATCH IT! If you don’t have HBO, they are showing it for free – here’s the link. If you don’t, you’re missing out, your loss, just watch it! Episode 1
Have a great week everyone!

Kent State Baseball Still Alive in NCAA College World Series!!

Awesome, exciting baseball game played by a local university! Just watched the Kent State Golden Flashes knock off No. 1 Florida on ESPN in an elimination game to stay alive in the College World Series (CWS). This tournament is like the Elite Eight of March Madness and typically dominated by powerhouse schools on the West Coast and South.

In the 9th inning with Kent leading 5-4, things looked grim because Florida loaded the bases with 1 out. Just a base hit by the Gators would have ended the Golden Flashes 2012 season! I honestly thought it was going to conclude with our Ohio team packing their bags but Kent got a called strike for the 2nd out and then they clinched victory with a fly out to right. This was Kent’s first CWS victory in the history of their baseball program. HUGE Congrats! Kent will face the winner of the elimination game between Arkansas and South Carolina and they must win to keep their season going. Check out Kent State baseball news and next game info here.

In other sporting news, Roger Clemens found innocent on all counts – whaaaatt!?!?!

And finally, in more important news, C likes to fly! A video of this little girl’s giggle coming soon – get excited.

Campbell is 4 Months!

Campbell is 4 months old!?! Although its only been a mere 4 months, it’s all going by much too fast for my liking. Although parenthood proved quite a challenge for us first-timers, things are sorting out and each day is truly more fun and enjoyable than the last. Each morning when I can hear C waking up on the monitor, I get giddy and happily go downstairs to her nursery where she welcomes me with a bright smile. ‘Hello world!’ her eyes and smile seem to express.

Genetics were unkind to our little C in the allergy department. Both Bizzle and I have hayfever and cat allergies so they seem to have conglomerated into a mega-allergy when we created our little offspring. You may have noticed in pictures of our babe that we put mittens on her, like Charlie Day’s kitten mittens – ha! Because unfortunately our little one has a dairy allergy and it causes her to scratch, scratch, scratch. When we swaddle her at night, she moves around the crib like a little inch worm because she’s constantly squirming to try and rub her itches away.  C is on her 3rd hypoallergenic formula and we’re hoping that she’s going to outgrow this allergy sooner rather than later! Thank you to all of our friends and family that have prayed and supported us throughout this tough period.

Like a perfectly consistent emulsion of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich , C is a nice blend of Bizzle and I. Some days we look at her and say, ‘C looks Asian today’ and other days we decide ‘She looks American’.  So I guess she’s really a mestiza, filipino word for a person of mixed race, typically half white half filipino. We love our little mestiza!

Image

Trying to get C in the right position. Good skin day – no kitten mittens today!

Image

She’s all comfy now with her hair pushed up as high as can be – look at that smile!

Oh yay, photo shoot is over! Time for a nap

Why Hello…

Hello world! Before I started writing this post, I considered just picking back up from where I last started (ummm, December 2011??) and throwing a Weekend Wrap-Up just like the old days. But that would be rude. A lot has happened in the past few as most of you know. Bizzle and I (and Poppy Stirfry) welcomed our little girl in February. It’s been a whirlwind and I never knew I could be so happy and love a tiny, little creature so much.

But let’s backtrack a bit. I found out I was pregnant about a year ago and I vividly remember the day that I informed Bizzle that he was going to be a father. After confirming twice that I would begin eating for two, I had about an hour to come up with a creative way to tell him. So when he came home from work that day, I asked him to check out our bathroom saying that Poppy had an ‘accident’. Instead of bracing for a messy cleanup from our pup, I left out the positive pregnancy tests on the counter and wrote a note on our chalkboard ‘we’re going to have a baby’ with the date. (I never claimed to be an event planner). We laughed, hugged and from that moment on, our lives revolved on preparing for this little miracle.

I had a pretty normal pregnancy in my opinion. No odd cravings but 2 things I could always eat no matter what time of the day or how many days in a row I had them were pizza or a Jimmy John’s Turkey Tom with BBQ chips (sometimes Salt and Vinegar). I ate so much pizza. So much. When the time came to find out if our baby was a boy or girl, we chose not to find out during the ultrasound but rather asked the technician to write it on a note on which we had both written down our guesses. We opened it together that evening over dinner and found out that we were both right! A baby girl!

One of the best things about being pregnant? Maternity pants – oh how I love my maternity jeans, yoga pants, even work pants. So so comfy and they help keep everything ‘together’. I read in a magazine that Christina Applegate still wears hers because they are so comfortable.

One of the fun things we decided to do was take a month by month picture to chronicle the pregnancy. Wearing the same shirt and pants, we took the same picture in the same part of the house, dragging Poppy into each picture.

p.s. Who is into Game of Thrones? It’s been on our tv the entire time while writing this but I have not glanced at it for more than 3 seconds. It’s just not interesting to me but Bizzle watches it religiously every weekend and I understand it has quite the following. I on the other hand CANNOT wait until Homeland comes back on tv. Super bummed its not coming back til the fall. Who knew that Claire Danes could top My So Called Life?

p.p.s. I got a lot of ribbing from friends for dropping the ball on this blog so I’m going to make an effort to post more frequently. Thanks for visiting!
